Kertha Gosa (Old Klungkung Court of Justice)

Kertha Gosa is located in the heart of Semarapura, ± 40 km east of Denpasar. Name of Kertha Gosa take from the Sanskrit language, Kertha means peaceful, and Gosa from the word Gosita means announcement. Thus, the meaning Kertha Gosa is a building a kind of hall of justice, where the king announce the legislation, justice, punishment, and so on. Besides Kertha Gosa, there is also a building that is adjacent Taman Gili with Bale Kambang, a building that looks like a floating float because as intentionally set in the middle of a pond, apparently as Bale Garden.

Its function is as a place of important guest’s reception by King Dewa Agung. On the right side of Bale Kambang is Kori Agung (main entrance),of the Kingdom of Klungkung, in 1908 Became the political and cultural center of Bali island. King Dewa Agung get the title of “Dalem” to transfer the kingdom to Klungkung of Gelgel late 17th century.
