Kertha Gosa (Old Klungkung Court of Justice)

Kertha Gosa is located in the heart of Semarapura, ± 40 km east of Denpasar. Name of Kertha Gosa take from the Sanskrit language, Kertha means peaceful, and Gosa from the word Gosita means announcement. Thus, the meaning Kertha Gosa is a building a kind of hall of justice, where the king announce the legislation, justice, punishment, and so on. Besides Kertha Gosa, there is also a building that is adjacent Taman Gili with Bale Kambang, a building that looks like a floating float because as intentionally set in the middle of a pond, apparently as Bale Garden.

Other buildings is Bale  Kambang. So it called because as floating above the pool, in which the lotus grows and ornamental fish. This Bale Kambang survived the destruction of the war Puputan tahun1908. Building that now is a result of the improvement and expansion, which occurred on tahun1942. Its function is as a place of important guest’s reception by King Dewa Agung. Paintings that adorn the ceiling was divided into three levels namely: The first level represents the astrology calendar that gives the benchmark (forecast) to the people of Bali, about good and bad days to carry out certain activities, the level above it tells about Mom Brayut and Dad Brayut, which depicts daily life days of Balinese society in general. This story used as material to explain to guests of the King, about the image of Bali society generally.

On the right side of Bale Kambang is Kori Agung (main entrance),of the Kingdom of Klungkung, in 1908 Became the political and cultural center of Bali island. King Dewa Agung the which means “Supreme Deity” he represents the King of kings of all the kingdoms in Bali. King Dewa Agung get the title of “Dalem” to transfer the kingdom to Klungkung of Gelgel late 17th century. His family is a direct descendant of the Majapahit Kingdom in Java 13th century until the 16th century.

On the right side, there is Kori Agung of Semarajaya Museum.
